Programme "Cercle Vermeil"

 

IDUTAIP (Institut pour le Développement des Usages des Technologies d'Assistance et d'Inclusion des Personnes) has launched in february 2008 a project called "Cercle Vermeil", a french thematic network intended to promote innovative ICT for ageing well and to make ICT for the elderly affordable in everydays' life.

The program has three main components :

1- develop open source applications designed for the elderly and integrate them in an easy to use environment for disabled people residing in nursing homes or still living in their individual home. We focus on

- security in the social relation of the elderly with their environment (spam,advertisements...)

- on practical needs such as administrative pocedures and management of utility files (patrimonial, health files,etc.)

- and on providing intellectual stimulation with specially designed games or activities.

2- Implement multimedia points in nursing home ("Points Cercle Vermeil") : this includes installation of the communication environment in a dedicated workshop as well as in individual rooms, set-up of equipement and services, and the management of service subscriptions. We are also thinking about providing assistance to animators in nursing homes to help them design multimedia workshops and to use the equipements and services implemented.

3- Introduce tutorial services for the elderly to help them use ICT : distant services as well as home services. We aim at building a mutual assistance network dedicated to old people using ICTs ("Réseaux Cercle Vermeil").

 

The Cercle-Vermeil Program is currently coordinating the preparation of some proposals concerned with overcoming the social isolation suffered by many old people living in nursing homes and in individual home.

We are searching for partners that could provide ICT solutions (equipments with assistive technologies, softwares -open source or propriatary solutions) so as to build a robust, usefull and affordable environment.

We are also interested in joining a consortium to run pilot experiments in the field of our current actions (nursing homes or individual homes).
